The Delegates

The Delegates | Executive Street Performance

The Delegates created bold, edgy street theatre shows for intergenerational audiences, offering unusual performance narratives and beguiling audience interactions. Their shows are suitable for urban, rural and green-field festival and events, and a broad spectrum of weather conditions.

Jeremy Shine, Manchester International Arts 2012 says of The Insectologists: “a performance that has now developed and gone from strength to strength as it tours more widely.”

The Company

The Delegates are a group of three established performers who formed after attending the Mintfest International Summer School for Street Arts (MISSSA) in August 2011. They co-devised The Insectologists under the direction of Brian Popay of Fine Artistes and have since toured to many UK street theatre festivals including Mintfest and Derby Festé in 2011, Widcombe Rising, The Banquet Tour, Masquepony and Derby Festé in 2012. Bob-a-Job-Bankers is their third show.

The Delegates take on the personas of grey-suited business executives. At a glance, they look convincing, however, the dialogues they provoke, along with their range of props, playfully subverts their formal and polished appearance. The average age of the group is fifty years old; this gives an apparent gravitas to their performances.

The Delegates are:

Antoinette Burchill: visual artist, writer & performer.
Stephen Jon: mask maker & performer.
Sarah McCluskey: burlesque compere & clown.
